Manager for Hardware Store


POSITION AT HARDWARE STORE (BUSH WICK – BROOKLYN)
COMPANY DESCRIPTION

We are a minority-owned business that has grown from a small hardware store to full service facilities, like: Kitchen Cabinets, Benjamin Moore Paints, Key Center, etc. We are distributing the finest products at competitive prices to commercial and residential builders, contractors and developers. Our Brooklyn-based business has served the Bushwick, Williamsburgh and Ridgewood areas for nearly five years, since 2004.

Position Description:

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • managing the sales organization in the store
  • supporting the Store Manager in the achievement of driving sales, credit, miscellaneous revenue, expense management, and planned cost recovery goals
  • ensuring that corporate programs and policies are executed in a way that maximizes store cost recovery, through superior customer service with both Associate and asset productivity
  • ensuring that Outlet Store presentation standards are maintained at the highest possible level
  • providing quick, friendly customer service by answering customers questions, providing purchase assistance and keeping shelves stocked
  • driving delivery van
  • cutting regular and high security keys

Job Requirements: 

  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record
  • Most Have experience in retail hardware store. Departments of Paint, Electrical, Plumbing, Kitchen Cabinets and Building Materials
  • Most have strong communication skills. English and Spanish would be helpful
  • Experience with managing others, preferably in retail or service environments
  • Ability to operate, demonstrate and explain merchandise in assigned area
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and knowledge of weights and measures
  • Ability to operate store equipment in assigned area (including but not limited to LRT, telephone, paging system, copiers, fax machines, computers, CCTV surveillance system, key cutting, panel saw, paint mixing computer, blind cutting, forklifts, pallet jacks, electric lifts, etc)
  • Ability to interpret price tag and UPC information
  • Ability to move throughout all areas of the store; sales floor, receiving, register areas, lawn and garden, including the outside perimeter of the store
  • Ability to work in both inside and outside environmental conditions
  • Physical ability to move large, bulky and/or heavy merchandise and work with power tools
  • Willing to do some heavy lifting (60lbs or more) and work with power tools
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties
  • Be motivated, friendly and hard working
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Work after hours as needed
